Dell Cloud Client Computing Will Soon Offer Windows Embedded 8 Standard Thin Clients

At Dell Cloud Client Computing we’re excited to share that we will soon be offering two of our Dell Wyse thin client models based on the new Windows Embedded 8 Standard operating system.  Consistent with our desire to offer cutting edge technology when it is available from Microsoft, we at Dell Cloud Client Computing have been testing and verifying this new OS with Microsoft on multiple Dell Wyse cloud client platforms.

Adding support of Windows Embedded 8 Standard on our compact yet powerful thin client platforms gives our customers the very latest in intuitive touch-screen ease of use coupled with the security, management, and efficiency advantages of desktop virtualization and thin clients. The combination of Windows 8’s intuitive tiling structure and app launcher, coupled with Microsoft RemoteFX (RDP 8) offers a new level of user experience, especially when enjoying rich high-def multimedia content.  And by delivering this new way to access and experience content via desktop virtualization and Dell Wyse thin clients, organizations can keep their people as happy and productive as ever while improving their security and becoming much more efficient.

Dell Wyse has tested and validated Windows Embedded 8 Standard using RemoteFX (RDP 8) over the Dell Wyse D class and Z class desktop thin clients. These new Windows Embedded 8 Standard based thin clients will be shipping from Dell very soon, so stay tuned for our announcements to follow.

We worked closely with Dell Wyse to ensure a great user experience for Windows Embedded 8 Standard on VDI with Dell Wyse endpoints,” said David Wurster, senior product manager for Windows Embedded at Microsoft. “We’re encouraged by the verification test results and look forward to Dell Wyse thin clients running Windows Embedded 8 Standard soon being available.”
