First Annual Dell Supplier Diversity Summit

Our efficient supply chain is the engine behind our direct model, in all parts of the world. To attain (and keep) those efficiencies, we rely on a network of component suppliers to help us build all the products we ship today. Last week, Dell hosted our first Supplier Diversity Summit in Austin, Texas. CEO Kevin Rollins kicked off the event that featured about 200 suppliers, corporate customers, and Dell purchasing agents.

The purpose of Dell’s Supplier Diversity program is to provide equal access to potential business opportunities for small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, woman-owned small businesses, veteran-owned small businesses, minority and women business enterprises, and HUBZone businesses (Historically Underutilized Business Zone) to participate as partners and suppliers of goods and services within our corporate supply chain. Year over year, Dell’s spending with minority and women business entrepreneurs increased 20%. Earlier this month, Dell moved up to the #2 spot on DiversityBusiness.com’s list of top 50 organizations for Multicultural Business Opportunities. We hope our Supplier Diversity program builds on the momentum we’ve established in the past.
