Today Dell announces the release of OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter version 2.0. This launch delivers a continuation of Dell’s award winning enterprise product, Dell Management Plug-in for VMware vCenter, now with a new name and distinctively positioned within our Dell OpenManage systems management portfolio.
OpenManage Integration (OMI) for VMware vCenter enables customers to streamline lifecycle management of Dell PowerEdge servers through the integration of iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller capabilities within the vCenter console. With version 2.0, we are delivering support for vSphere 5.5 and VMware’s vSphere Web Client. Web Client integration enables customers to utilize standard internet browsers and a wide-range of diverse device types to manage PowerEdge servers in VMware vSphere virtual environments.
OMI unites the acclaimed embedded management capabilities of PowerEdge servers with the advanced management features of VMware vCenter Server and VMware vSphere clients. Customers are able to streamline management tasks including monitoring PowerEdge servers, maintaining hardware inventory and performing cluster-level firmware updates. OpenManage Integration v2.0 additionally extends support for up to ten vCenter installations allowing easy, on-demand environmental scaling
OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter also supports Fault Resilient Memory, a unique and innovative technology jointly developed by Dell and VMware. Fault Resilient Memory facilitates a better protected and more stable environment for the hypervisor and virtualized mission critical applications. The OpenManage Integration tool displays the status of FRM-enabled systems and also presents a wide array of data center and cluster reporting information to provide a consolidated view of PowerEdge Server hardware resources.
Dell’s announcement of OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter v2.0 follows months of parallel development and interlocks between the Dell and VMware engineering and product management teams as well as joint assistance in fine-tuning the vSphere 5.5 SDK and associated features. This new release marks three years of demonstrating VMware partnering to provide customers with robust vCenter integration that enables faster deployment, simplified change management and agent-free monitoring.
