Not Losing Sight of the Basics of Interactivity

No matter the new technology, there are still some age-old issues that must be tackled and they haven't forgotten that at SXSW Interactive this year. A theme running through the sessions I attended on day two of the conference was working with teams to bring ideas to reality. … READ MORE

A New (Virtual) Frontier for Ethics

The Ethics Resource Center, I must admit, did not sound at first like it would be the most exciting organization. But, they asked me to come speak at their Fellows Program about what Dell has done in Second Life, and I'll talk to anyone who will listen to … READ MORE

Tweetup Turns into Virtual World Salon

I've never thought I fit neatly into any particular one of Malcom Gladwell's Tipping Point categories, but it was great fun the play the part of connector recently when we hosted a virtual kaffeeklatsch at the coffee shop on Dell's main island in Second Life.  It started with … READ MORE

Virtual Hype Will Lead to Immersive Internet

Groupies: They’re not just for SXSW Music anymore

Several of the topics I was interested in at SXSW Interactive this year were set up in what they called the “Core Conversations” format.  The (good) idea appears to have been round table discussions among colleagues, rather than an audience being spoken to by panelists.  I really … READ MORE

Getting into the SXSW Groove

Well, here I am at my second-ever SXSW Interactive and I'm jazzed.  Started it off yesterday by standing in the long badge-pick-up line -when I got there, the line wrapped around the inside of the building and was longer than I've seen it at any time since, of … READ MORE
