Collaborate, Connect and Print on Multiple Mobile Devices Using the New Dell Document Hub

Mobile technology and bring-your-own-device initiatives are reshaping the workplace as they eliminate the boundaries of being hardwired to your desk, allowing employees to have an anytime-anywhere connection. According to 81 percent of IT decision makers surveyed in Dell’s 2014 International Tablets Study, conducted online by Harris Poll, tablets are perceived to enable increased productivity in the workplace, with the majority estimating a productivity increase of 20 percent or more due to tablet adoption. Additionally, the survey results showed that a mix of Windows (72 percent), iOS (69 percent), and Android (60 percent) tablet operating systems are being integrated in the workplace.

With the increased adoption of mobile technology in the workforce, organizations around the world are shifting towards cloud storage services to provide universal access points as a tool for simple, cost effective document collaboration within and across their business. While devices such as laptops or tablets typically come to mind when thinking about enterprise mobility, the printer is another key device that can help enable mobile productivity.

In 2013, we created the award winning Dell Document Hub to allow users in a mobile environment to access, share, create and print documents across many common cloud document platforms. Embedded in the Dell Color Multifunction Printer – C2665dfn, the Dell Document Hub is an easily integrated solution for seamless digital collaboration across Dell printers, PCs and Windows 8 and mobile devices. Today, we are excited to announce that the same Dell Document Hub capabilities are now available on Android and iOS devices. The improved Dell Document Hub solution includes:

  • Seamless cloud connection: Use the app on your PC or mobile device to print documents from the cloud or scan documents from your printer to cloud services.
  • Scan and create editable content: Convert hard copies to editable, searchable files using the cloud Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature (available on Windows 8, 8.1 and RT devices only).
  • Convenient monitoring: Check on your printer’s status and monitor toner levels from the app.
  • Free download: The app is supported on the following devices

    • Android: Supports OS 4.0 and later; printing via print service plug-in supported by OS 4.4 and later
    • iOS: Supports iOS 7.0 and later
    • Windows: Supports Windows 8 and later

With the right solutions, business professionals can easily adapt to mobile trends that increase productivity in the workplace. We are excited about our lineup of new Imaging solutions in 2015, as we continue to build innovation in the workforce based around our customers.
