Dell and A&E: Taking on Reality TV, One Small Business at a Time

Reality television is a guilty pleasure for many of us. For me, I really like seeing shows that profile the ‘average joe’ pursuing a dream (Project Runway, American Idol), making a positive change (The Biggest Loser) being recognized for the great things they do for others (Extreme Home Makeover ). Owning a successful small business is an aspiration for approximately 65% of Americans (making good money AND being your own boss is quite alluring). Yet, this task is often more daunting than challenging as many businesses don’t ever really take off or go out of business.

That’s why I’m excited about A&E Network and Dell teaming up to help make several small-business owners successful in WE MEAN BUSINESS (a new half-hour ‘makeover’ lifestyle series, click here to see some show clips on the A&E site). In each business makeover, a trio of experts will show owners how to reduce expenses, increase profits, limit liability, and implement new technologies – among many other things.

For details on Dell’s involvement with the show, check out www.dellmeansbusiness.com. Also, check back here as each episode airs for more on the technology solutions used in the show. The series begins Sept. 6, 2008.
