Dell and AMD: A powerful combination for the cloud


AMD logoAt Dell we continually listen to our customers and enhance our PowerEdge server portfolio with new features and capabilities.  Today, we’re excited to introduce the latest processor improvements from AMD – both the high value 4300 series processors and the high end 6300 series processors. Our ongoing collaboration generates a powerful combination of AMD’s processor innovations together with the scalability and reliability of PowerEdge servers.  These processors, based on the more efficient and modular “Piledriver” architecture, will let us deliver better performance and scalability across high-growth datacenter applications.  With better performance per watt – up to 37 percent higher than the previous generation – this processor refresh will help customers achieve the levels of energy efficiency that are necessary to improve total cost of ownership in today’s data centers to keep them competitive.

So when can our customers take advantage of these improvements? Later this quarter, Dell will refresh the following servers with AMD’s 4300 and 6300 series processors:

  • PowerEdge M915 full-height blade server delivers highly scalable performance and outstanding flexibility for demanding applications like databases, decision support, and CRM.
  • PowerEdge R815 & R715 rack servers  offer an excellent balance of processor density, redundancy and value in a space-saving form factor for virtualized medium to small databases, VDI environments and other highly threaded applications.
  • PowerEdge R515 & R415 rack servers  give customers an energy efficient and cost-effective balance of processing power and value to run applications like IT infrastructure, file/print, web servers, and email.
  • PowerEdge C6105 & C6145 cloud servers  offer Big Data and HPC customers exceptional density and tremendous price/performance, so they can crunch through massive calculations and massive amounts of data (Hadoop) as efficiently as possible.
