Dell is proud to announce the launch of OEM support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 (RHEL 6) which is certified on 9G, 10G, and 11G Dell servers and is an excellent complement to Dell’s open standards-based strategy. RHEL 6 provides customers with a proven, scalable, manageable and reliable open standards-based operating system that delivers even more compelling reasons for customers to migrate off of proprietary, UNIX-based systems.

With over ten years as partners, Dell and Red Hat worked closely together on the development of RHEL 6 ensuring that both technologies work seamlessly together, reducing time and resources for customers. Dell’s engineering team contributed to RHEL 6 to deliver significant benefits such as performance enhancements for EqualLogic storage and cloud and virtualization solutions. Additionally, in order to help customers save time on RHEL 6 deployments, Dell integrated all PowerEdge server device drivers into RHEL 6. For easier management, Dell included integrated OpenManage, native PowerEdge and Satellite hardware patch management, and more intelligent power management with integrated support for Dell Advanced Power Management.

The upcoming Dell EqualLogic Host Integration Tools for Linux (currently in Beta) provides ease of use, better performance and automatic management of SAN from your RHEL 6 environment. Linux users can now natively deploy SAN within minutes with the EqualLogic Remote Setup Wizard command line interface for Linux. Users also benefit from increased bandwidth, performance, and reduced network latency from the EqualLogic MPIO Solution for Linux. To learn more about participating in the beta program, you can visit the EqualLogic Support site: https://www.equallogic.com/support/services.aspx?id=4167.

Overall, customers benefit from Dell’s open standards-based platform that provides fast implementations, simplified management, and a quick return on investment while providing flexibility of choice as they continue to grow. And, by directly resolving almost all support related issues, Dell provides customers with a one-stop-shop for hardware, software, services, and support.
