It’s been a momentous few weeks for Dell’s enterprise business, as multiple leading industry reports underscored the enterprise solutions group growth Dell reported in our most recent earnings announcement. Our enterprise solutions continue to gain market share and outpace the competition because our industry-leading innovations are relevant and meaningful to increasing numbers of customers and channel partners. Dell now holds #1 or #2 positions in servers, storage and networking – all three key domains for data center technologies.

Every day, I speak with customers who say they’ve chosen Dell because they recognize that our solutions deliver the end-to-end technology and support they need to drive their business.  And it’s our continued collaboration with customers that drives our innovative solutions.  Engagement with customers like eBay for our new joint innovation center and Amerijet, with whom we recently held longer-term strategy discussions, are central to our ongoing development strategy. And then there are organizations like Keek and Maricopa County that rely on Dell for server, storage and networking solutions to optimize their own data centers. Customers are choosing Dell, and that’s showing up in industry reports.

I’m proud to see the server and networking reports from Gartner Inc., International Data Corporation (IDC) and Dell’Oro Group reflect these successful efforts.

These latest server and networking numbers build onto our solid enterprise solutions momentum story, as our storage offerings have also been recently recognized in the Leaders quadrant of Gartner’s “Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Disk Arrays.

Here are some highlights from last week’s server and networking reports:

  • IDC reported that Dell gained 14.1 points in Server Share year over year and grew 121.8% for worldwide density revenue.
  • Gartner’s Worldwide Server Shipment Report states that all of the top five server vendors “suffered revenue declines in the first quarter of 2013 except for Dell which grew 14.4 percent.”
  • Dell’Oro’s 2013 L2/L3 Ethernet market share report shows Dell has officially passed Juniper to take the #3 position in overall Ethernet switching. It also reports Dell as #2 in the 40G segment. And, in fixed managed switching, Dell has had shown more growth in the past five quarters than any other vendor covered in the report. In fact, both HP and Cisco lost fixed managed switching market share over the same period.

Learn more about our success in server, storage and networking with additional information on these industry reports and what Dell is doing to continue to deliver customer-centric technology solutions across the data center.

Again, the success of our Enterprise Solutions Group is rooted in our close collaboration with customers, and we look forward to exciting times ahead. In fact, our Dell Enterprise Forum customer and partner event this week promises even more of the collaboration that helps set us. We hope to see you there!
