Dell Leader for Second Year in Gartner 2014 Magic Quadrant for Unified Threat Management (UTM)

As cybercriminals get more sophisticated, organizations must become more serious about implementing market-leading next-generation firewalls for protection.

While there are many options available to fill this need, Dell is one of the few that offers firewalls that consistently drive leading threat protection along with increasingly greater performance and value.  This is why we are especially proud to announce that for the second consecutive year, Dell is recognized as a leader in Gartner’s 2014 Magic Quadrant for Unified Threat Management (UTM). Prior to Dell’s acquisition in 2012, SonicWALL had been placed in the leader quadrant for the Magic Quadrant for Unified Threat Management since 2009. Gartner’s definition of a leader is “a vendor at the forefront of making and selling UTM products that are built for midsize business requirements.” These are not my words, they are Gartner’s.  Gartner goes on to say:

“The requirements necessary for leadership include a wide range of models to cover midsize business use cases, support for multiple features, and a management and reporting capability that's designed for ease of use.”Dell TZ Appliance Series UTM

To address the requirements of all size organizations, we offer both the TZ Appliance Series and Network Security Appliance (NSA) Series of network security product to give customers the right product at the right price. When purchased with TotalSecure, our products give you deeper security than the competition. We do all of this in an easy-to-use console that allows you to see what is happening on your network and respond, with a few clicks, to manage how the network is being used.

“Vendors in this quadrant lead the market in offering new safeguarding features, and in enabling customers to deploy them inexpensively without significantly affecting the end-user experience or increasing staffing burdens.”

Additional advanced features deliver an increased level of sophistication that helps organizations stay ahead of cybercriminals. These include intrusion prevention with anti-evasion technology and a malware detection engine that leverages the cloud to provide a broader range of malware signatures.  But sophistication does not mean complexity so using the product is simple and straight forward.

“These vendors also have a good track record of avoiding vulnerabilities in their security products.  Common characteristics include reliability, consistent throughput, and products that are intuitive to manage and administer.”

Dell Network Security Appliance (NSA) Series of network security product With over 15 million sensors we see farther, meaning threats are detected and able to be addressed early on.  Seeing farther is only useful if we respond to these threats quickly.  In the past couple of months, threats such as Heartbleed, vulnerabilities in Java and Internet Explorer have been responded to within one day of identification.

At no time in history has it been more critical for organizations to implement a no compromise, high performing, and enterprise grade firewall.  Dell is proud to offer this superior protection and to have been recognized  by achieving a place in the coveted leader’s quadrant in the Gartner 2014 UTM Magic Quadrant.
