Did you know that Dell has donated more than $1.4 million to Susan G. Komen for the Cure since launching our partnership with this organization last year? And with Breast Cancer Awareness Month underway, Dell has some really exciting programs in the works to continue to show our support. As member of the Board for the Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, I am personally invested in ensuring that we do all that we can to support this meaningful cause.
For those of you who may not be familiar with the organization, Susan G. Komen for the Cure supports breast cancer awareness, research and support in the United States. To date the group has made grants totaling more than $1 billion, and since its inception in 1982, Komen has helped turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors. There are 2.5 million breast cancer survivors currently living in the United States, which is the largest group of cancer survivors in this country today. And when detected early, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer is 98 percent compared to 74 percent when Komen opened its doors.
For those of you who follow our @DellHomeUS account on Twitter, you can enter a contest to win a Promise Pink Inspiron M101z. Look for the buzz in the blogosphere as well because we’ll provide three of our influential female bloggers with Promise Pink laptops. The bloggers will surprise someone they know who is a breast cancer fighter or survivor with the laptop and share the experience through their blogs.
And, as always, for every Inspiron, Studio and Mini sold with a Promise Pink lid, Dell donates $5 for laptops and $10 for Design Studio models to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. You can view Dell’s full lineup of Promise Pink product offerings at www.dell.com/komen.
Our Dell team members are also involved in the cause. You’ll see them turn out at the races that take place across the U.S., and we’ll have local events in the cities where we have Dell offices. And, for every Dell team member who joins the Komen group through our intranet, Dell will donate $1 to the cause.
Thanks in advance for taking your time to read about what Dell is doing to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure during this meaningful month. Please comment here with any thoughts or feedback on our programs or to simply show your support for the cause.
