Here is the question I have for you: Can you smile about the company you are about to go work for?
As a recruiter and networker with people, I’ve heard people say, “If I can do something that I love, I would do it for free.” Well you certainly don’t have to work for free (as a matter of fact, you’ll probably make a load of dough if you’re good at this job) but you can do something you love at Dell and you can work for a company that is passionate about its people.
When it comes to making a decision about your career and employer, do yourself a favor and ask, “Will I be happy here?” I’m not going to lie, there were days at other places of employment that I didn’t want to get out of bed. But I can honestly say that every time I see the Dell brand I smile and say to myself, “I can’t believe I’m working for a global leader and I love my job.”
Now you don’t have to get that mushy, but you need make sure you’re going to like working for your employer. One thing that I recommend is a “must-do” is talk to current employees of the company you are seeking. Ask questions and talk to as many people as possible.
If you can hear three good things that sound like you’d fit in there – well, that’s something to smile about.
