Enabling the Mobile Workforce with Updates to Tablets and 2-in-1s

In the 2014 Dell Evolving Workforce Study, 64 percent of employees conduct at least some business at home after hours, and employees are using multiple devices to get their jobs done. With the ability to work from anywhere, and with “9-5” no longer limited to 9-5, workers want to use the right technology for the job – whether that’s a laptop, tablet or smartphone.

Tablets, once considered companion or entertainment devices, are being deployed in the workplace in a number of different industries, including education, healthcare, government, law enforcement, insurance, retail and transportation, to name a few. In fact, there is hardly an industry that is not at least seriously evaluating the deployment of tablets or 2-in-1s in their corporate environment, or allowing for a BYOD scenario. For organizations today, the biggest challenge is how to secure and manage the proliferation of data and devices accessing the corporate network. It’s not enough to simply provide any mobile device, it’s crucial to provide a mobile device that can seamlessly integrate into the corporate environment, and most importantly, allow IT managers to easily manage and secure the content and access to critical data.

In response to this growing need for secure and manageable mobile devices, we introduced the Latitude 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 and the Venue 11 Pro 7000 Series tablet in the latter half of 2014. Today, we’re updating these devices with the Intel Core M vPro processor for enhanced security and manageability. Both devices have been enthusiastically received by customers, receiving fantastic reviews from the likes of PC Mag, PC World and Forbes.

So which one is right for your business? The Latitude 13 7000 Series is the world’s most secure 2-in-1 solution, and combines a lightweight business Ultrabook and a detachable tablet in one powerful device. The laptop-first 2-in-1 offers a large 13.3-inch display and a professional, ISO-certified backlit keyboard, multiple connectivity options and an Instant Go from sleep mode.

The Latitude 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 can also be paired with the Dell Mobile Office, a suite of accessories specifically designed for this device—a carrying case, sleeve, power companion and universal dongle—giving ultra-mobile professionals a truly unique and first-class productivity experience.

The Venue 11 Pro 7000 Series is the most manageable tablet in the industry, giving IT departments the ability to remotely manage and update entire deployments. It also supports robust security features such as Dell Data Protection (DDP) solutions and the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for Bitlocker encryption. With a 10.8-inch Full HD display, thin and fanless design, and battery life that lasts the workday, the Venue tablet is designed to enable the mobile workforce to be more productive wherever they are. The tablet also enables users to work the way that they want with options such as a detachable keyboard with extra battery, full docking station to connect to a monitor, keyboard and mouse, a slim keyboard for ultra-portability, or stylus. All of the Venue 11 Pro accessories are designed to be compatible with the previous and current generation of the tablet – and the next generation too.

The workplace is evolving – in fact, it’s often no longer a specific location. Whether you’re at the office, at home, or on a plane, productivity is paramount. Both the Latitude 13 7000 Series 2-in-1 and the Venue 11 Pro 7000 Series tablet offer the power and flexibility needed for today’s mobile workforce, while also providing the security, manageability and reliability that IT departments require.
