Readers of Direct2Dell know that recycling is hardly new terrain for us at Dell. A few minutes ago, we announced that we're making it even easier for customers to responsibly recycle with two major announcements that expand our free recycling program. First, we expanded our U.S. ReConnect recycling partnership with Goodwill Industries to six additional states, including Arkansas, Iowa, Maine, New Hampshire, Oregon and Vermont. The Reconnect program will now also be expanded to include the cities of Akron, Ohio; Frederick, Md.; and New Haven, Conn.
Our free recycling partnership with Goodwill has the added benefit of creating green jobs at a time when they are very much needed. The Dell-Goodwill Reconnect program will recycle used computers, of any brand, in an environmentally responsible manner at more than 1,000 participating Goodwill stores nationwide for free. Not only does Reconnect enable consumers to recycle responsibly, but Goodwill will hire local residents to help manage and oversee the program.
To help our customers achieve their own environmental goals, we offer several responsible consumer options:
- Dell consumer customers across the globe can recycle equipment by downloading a pre-paid shipping label and mailing it back to us (we pay for the shipping).
- In the United States, Dell customers can recycle Dell branded computers, printers, monitors or peripheral items for free at Staples’ 1,500 U.S. store locations, without having to make a purchase.
- The National Cristina Foundation allows customers in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and major markets in Brazil to donate any working computer system to non-profit organizations in their areas.
- Looking to recover potential value for your system? Dell Exchange, a free online trade-in system for U.S. customers to exchange used electronics for Dell gift cards.
We encourage everyone to clean out their attics and basements and drop off (or send in) that unwanted computer. It will clear up space in your home and help you become a responsible recycler!
