Millennials are the hot topic in recruiting these days – how to attract them, what interests them when considering a job and how their unique experiences are changing today’s workforce.

Millennials are essential partners in change and Dell’s goal is to hire at least a quarter of our workforce directly from universities. Not only do we want to attract these young professionals, we also provide support and opportunities to help them continue to learn and grow through career development programs and their Employee Resource Group (ERG), GenNext.

GenNext is Dell’s network for young professionals, new hires and the young at heart. By empowering young women and men as creative and integral partners, they are helping to shape the future of the company – and boy, have they been busy this year! More than 5,000 members in 32 chapters around the world take an active role in this network, supporting their communities as well as their careers. From service events at Shammah, Children’s Home in Malaysia to networking with senior leaders in Bracknell and celebrating Brazilian Festa Junina in Brazil – there really is something for everyone.

GenNext also sponsors Game Changers, Dell’s global competition that brings together teams to share ideas and provide innovative solutions to real business challenges that change the game for Dell. The finalists are given the opportunity to present their solution to the Executive Leadership Team including Michael Dell himself. With over 450 participants last year, the competition is now in its fifth year and looks likely to attract even more entries.

Career development is a core value at Dell and, to support this, we have launched Jump Start, an official onboarding program for all those joining the workforce directly from university. The program aims to help recent graduates integrate easily into Dell’s work environment during their first year through a series of four training modules including effective networking and building a career.

Our renewed focus on innovation, creativity and creating change makes Dell a great place for young professionals to take charge of their career. And, with the built in-support systems including GenNext and Jump Start, all the necessary resources and skills to succeed are easily accessible. This really is a great place to grow your career!
