During A Day of Innovation in Education last week in Cambridge, Mass., on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) campus, Dell hosted and participated in activities promoting dialogue about the role technology plays in encouraging innovation in education.
“The boundaries of our classrooms have really changed with technology [and] with how quickly the world moves today, so the definition of teaching and of being a student and even of being a parent really needs to change, too,” according to Allison Wu, advocate for the student voice in education and youth engagement in policymaking, who participated in our fourth Social Think Tank about the future—and next steps—for innovating education. A few others that really stuck out to me were that we need to continue to prioritize the student voice, they’re on the ground experiencing the flaws of the education system (@ZakMal). And that changing minds really starts one person at a time (@plugusin).
The day also included discussion of “The Digital Divide: Equity and Access” and “How Technology Spurs Innovation in the Classroom” during a Technology in the Classroom Town Hall event, in partnership with Dell and co-produced by NBC News’ Education Nation and NBC Learn. The compelling town hall – archived on the Education Nation site – was moderated by MSNBC Anchor and NBC Correspondent, Alex Witt with support from NBC News Special Correspondent Chelsea Clinton.
