Today, it's official that Ron Rose joined Dell from priceline.com where he served as chief information officer. He'll serve as a member of Dell's executive leadership team and will report directly to Michael Dell. Ron will be responsible for Dell's online global platforms, including Dell.com, the Premiere Pages we use to serve our business customers and support.dell.com.
Last year, customers in 160 countries collectively purchased billions of dollars worth of Dell products and services On Dell.com. Also in that same period, Dell.com received 1.7 billion visits from more than 500 million customers around the world.
Our presence on the web remains a critical component of Dell's success as a company. In the weeks and months ahead, we'll be blogging about enhancements to many of our online properties. Regular readers of Direct2Dell know that I've been keenly interested in building a more seamless integration between our Dell Community sites, Dell.com, support.dell.com and the web overall. Much more work to do, but you can expect more from us on that topic in the future.
