Small Business Tech Tip: Go Green & Save on Expenses

Whether you run a home-based business or operate in a commercial space, there are simple green tech tricks that can make a huge difference, both to the environment and your bottom line. There are a lot of great green tips floating around the Internet — many that even small businesses can do.

1. Turn off PC’s, printers and faxes when they’re not being used. This can reduce the energy use by 25 percent; turning off the computers at the end of the day can save an additional 50 percent.

2. Encourage online communications and read email messages onscreen to determine whether it's necessary to print them. If it's not, don't!

3. Purchase “greener” technology products. Visit  ENERGY STAR to research office equipment that helps save energy through special energy-efficient designs.

Today, Dell announced that it achieved its Carbon Neutrality goal ahead of schedule. You can learn more by visiting the blog or by joining the ReGeneration at www.regeneration.org. If you are interested in finding other ways you can make your business green, check out John Jantsch's post.
