ULV for Small and Medium Businesses: the Dell Vostro V13

Vostro V13 ULV laptopWe’ve offered several laptops based on Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) processors to consumers for a while now with systems like the Inspiron 11z. Today, we’ve got a pretty cool option for small and medium businesses, the Vostro V13. It’s available now on Dell.com in Singapore and will also be available soon to customers in the United States, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Germany, China, India, France, Brazil and Japan later this week. Pricing starts at $449 in the U.S.

One of the benefits of ULV processors is that they offer performance that is closer to laptop instead of a netbook. And because they use less power than traditional laptop processors, they conserve less battery power and generate less heat. See Abrha’s Q&A for more background That paves the way for a thinner and lighter laptop. That’s where the Vostro V13 fits in. It’s 0.65 inches (16.5mm) and starts at 3.5 pounds (1.59kg). Taking a bit of design cues from the original Adamo 13, it’s encased in high-quality brushed aluminum with reinforced zinc hinges ready for rough handling.
