Dell to unveil thin, high performance laptop MarketWatch – Sept. 30, 2011
Dell Inc. on Friday plans to unveil in China its latest aluminum-clad thin notebook for the holidays with a design reminiscent of Apple Inc.'s laptops that have been popular with consumers.
The new laptop, dubbed the XPS 14z, is a follow-up to the company's 15-inch notebooks and includes a screen that measures 14 inches diagonally while packed into a 13-inch form factor. The computer is less than an inch thick and has about seven hours of battery life with normal use.

“If you want to figure out what the implications [of HP’s announcements] are, it’s really easy to ask partners,” [Michael Dell] said. “They’ll tell you very quickly. It’s hard to see how it’s not a great thing for us. We believe the client device continues to be very important and are fully committed to providing a broad range of solutions from the client devices to the datacentre and beyond.”

Dell’s participation was based on a request for help by C3 Presents, ACL Music Festival producers, and the show’s video production company, Arts + Labor (A+L). ACL show organizers wanted to expand the show’s audience beyond Austin and one effective way to do that is via web streaming on YouTube.
